Giving Birth and How Aging Effects Your Chances

Unfortunately, the odds for a woman giving birth decreases as she gets older. This is often referred to as a woman’s body clock, women are naturally better equipped physically to have babies in their twenties. As a woman gets older, the chances of conception and giving birth reduces. For many women this is somewhat of a conundrum, especially in recent years.

Whilst our bodies might be in optimum physical condition for giving birth, it is fair to say that in many cases our minds are not quite ready to swap our casual existence with changing nappies. Women are also enjoying their careers, more so than at any other time in history. Giving birth in our twenties might have a tremendous impact to us as individuals or to everything we have worked towards, so it is not a surprise that a growing number of women are putting of giving birth until they reach their thirties.

However, are we risking our chances of giving birth in return for our successful careers and social life? It’s certainly medically proven that the older we get, the less chance we have of giving birth, we’ve provided a table of information below:

Age Chances of giving birth

  • 30 to 35 15-25% less fertile than a woman in her twenties
  • 35 to 40 Up to 50% less fertile than a woman in her twenties
  • 40+ As much as 90% less fertile than woman in their twenties

As you can see, the chances of giving birth reduce dramatically as we grow older. This is because as we get older, the quality of our eggs is thought to reduce, we also start producing less eggs. This has a direct impact on our chances of conception and giving birth.

It is not just women that are affected by age. Mother Nature certainly intended for us to procreate when we were younger. The potency of a man in his thirties is as much as 40% less than a man in his twenties. Obviously, a man of 35 with a partner of 25 may not necessarily feel the impact and may fend themselves giving birth quite quickly. However, when a couple are both in their mid to late thirties, it may be a complexly different story.

So now that we know the chances of giving birth are direct affected by our age, what can we do to ensure we remain in tip top condition for conception? Well, as we’ve mentioned in some of our other articles on this subject, it is wise to take the time to understand your body, take the time to recognize the clues it gives to you, knowing when you are at your most fertile will increase your chances of giving birth tenfold.

For most of us, it can seem like a cruel joke played by Mother Nature. Just as many women are experiencing genuine equality in the work place and enjoying careers similar to those men have enjoyed for many years, we find that are chances of giving birth are greatly reduced.

What she gives with one hand, she takes with another. Fortunately, medical advice, our awareness of our own spirituality and health has also greatly improved, helping us to over come the reduced odds of giving birth to those of us in our thirties.
