Water Childbirth

Water childbirth may be one of the most natural and comfortable ways to have a baby for both mom and baby. There are many options out there today; however, water childbirth allows the baby to be born in warm and soothing water. This is closer to the environment of the home he is leaving; therefore, there are no harsh bright lights and loud noises to introduce him or her to the world.

Water childbirth is very simple. You will be placed in a tub of water that is normally between 90 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The baby will of course be monitored just as if you were not in a tub of water. Today, they have special Doppler devices that can be used especially for water childbirths to ensure that your baby is doing fine prior to the birthing process.

If you decide, you will still be allowed pain medication, but many moms do not opt for any type of pain medication due to the fact that water childbirth is more relaxing, movement is easier, and it is more comfortable. The pain is less due to these factors. Not being able to move, as is the problem with many birthing options, adds pain, which is not necessary. If you decide you can even have the baby completed delivered in water, he or she will not take a breath until he reaches the surface of the water.

Water childbirth can also give the mom less stress an anxiety so she can relax and focus on giving birth instead of worrying about the position she has to be in for delivery in other birthing methods.

If you are considering water childbirth, it would be best to talk with your doctor to ensure that this type of deliver is available at the facility in which you wish to give birth and if he/she has delivered in water before.
