Pregnancy Complications
Common pregnancy complications include bleeding, leg cramps, Rh-negative disease, the loss of the baby, miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, pre-term labor and pre-term delivery.
Some of these pregnancy complications may sound very scary and worry most first time mothers, however, understanding the complications and what you can do to prevent or help you through the different stages can give you relief.
Bleeding is one pregnancy complication that scares most women because it can be a sign that something is wrong with the baby, that they have a tubal pregnancy, or that they are having a miscarriage. However, this is not necessarily true. Many women experience bleeding through the first three months of pregnancy and some up to six months. All you have to do is notify the doctor and he will let you know if everything is fine and if the bleeding is normal.
An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy complication that you do not hear about too often, it is caused by a sexually transmitted disease or from an infection such as pelvic inflammatory disease. Symptoms include pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, and dizziness. This is an emergency situation and you should not wait until your next doctor's visit if you have any of these symptoms.
Rh Negative Disease is when a mother has a blood type that is negative and the baby has positive. The doctor can give you medication to avoid this complication.
Other pregnancy complications such as pre-term labor and delivery, miscarriages, etc… can also be avoided the majority of the time by listening to your doctor, eating properly, and exercising regularly.
