Pregnancy and Exercise

There's always a lot of questions about pregnancy and exercise. Especially just how much exercise you should do and at what stages of pregnancy you should do them. The way you should think about pregnancy and exercise is that you are not preparing for the Winter Olympics, you're merely trying to increase your basic fitness and stamina so that you will have a lot more comfortable time with the stages of pregnancy and labor.

If you're already a fit person and take part in regular exercise, there is no reason why you should not continue this for the first trimester. That is, unless you are lifting weights or doing particularly dangerous exercise or training. Pregnancy and exercise is about common sense, you obviously do not want to over do things or jeopardize the health of you or your baby.

One of the early symptoms of pregnancy is that you will feel very tired. This is normal and a result of the changes inside of your body. Perversely, one the best ways to fight against the feeling of fatigue is to take exercise. Whilst pregnancy and exercise might be the furthest thing from your mind as you battle the tiredness, you'll be surprised at the positive affect it will have on you.

The time to start reconsidering the levels of exercise during pregnancy is from the second trimester onwards. In most cases you will not feel like anything too strenuous, however it is useful to continue light or moderate exercise. In most towns there are a number of pregnancy or exercise clubs that cater specifically to women in various stages of pregnancy. They will include certain exercises that have been proven to be beneficial to pregnant women.

The best forms of exercise during pregnancy are the ones which help to tone your muscles. Most pregnancy and exercise classes encourage pregnant women to take up yoga or swimming. These are the types of exercises which is difficult to over do with, yet at the same time offer a sufficient work out. The great thing about pregnancy and exercise classes is that you get the opportunity to meet lots of other pregnant women and share ideas. Often, you will become great friends with other mums who have children around the similar time as you do.

Remember, the whole objective of exercising when you are pregnant is to help prepare your body for the strenuous tasks ahead. The weight that you will put on as part of being pregnant will mean that you will experience you share of aches and pains. A well thought our pregnancy and exercise plan will help to alleviate the aches, leaving you feeling a lot healthier and up for the pain ahead.

It has also been proven that women who exercise during pregnancy and maintain a healthy balanced lifestyle, have a much easier labor and delivery. If this is not motivation enough to contact your local pregnancy and exercise class, you must be a huge fan of pain.
