Post Pregnancy Exercise
Exercising after childbirth is extremely important for the sake of your well-being and overall level of health and fitness. Post pregnancy exercise is best left until a few weeks after delivery as to not place too much stress on your body too soon after giving birth.
It is best to ease yourself back in to exercise beginning with light walks around the garden on in a local park. Believe it or not but after I gave birth I used to use my stairs as a stepper and the buggy as the perfect exercise tool when out shopping.
Once you are eased in to light exercise you can begin to concentrate more on getting back in shape which more strenuous exercise like swimming and resistance exercises to improve muscle tone. Light dumbbells are great for resistance training. Don't worry though you won't get huge, us women aren't built for body building it's simply to improve our muscle tone so we can regain a nice figure.
Reducing your diet slightly after pregnancy is a great idea because you no longer need the extra calories to support your baby and reducing your calorie intake will ensure you shed those pregnancy pounds easily and steadily over the coming months after pregnancy. I would advise against thinking about losing the weight too quickly as your body is still in recovery from the pregnancy and needs plenty of energy for this.
Post pregnancy exercise can be great fun and we encourage you to involve your partner and the new baby in as many of your exercises as possible. It's great for bonding with your child and ensuring your partner doesn't feel left out or neglected now that the new baby is here and he will secretly be pleased you are making efforts to regain your figure.
