Pregnancy Weight Gain - Worried About Putting on Weight During Pregnancy?

Weight gain during pregnancy is an inevitable result of being pregnant. Yet for many women pregnancy weight gain is still confusing, exactly how much weight should they put on? Will the weight ever come off again? Many of these questions are straight forward to answer, yet it is important to focus on why these questions are being asked. If you're simply worried about putting a pregnancy weight gain because you're concerned with how you might look, you really need to think about things a little differently.

Determining the exact pregnancy weight gain for a typical women is quite difficult. We all start off different shapes and sizes, so there is no predetermined weight gain that each of us will experience. The general rule is that it depends on how much you weighed before becoming pregnant and your height in comparison. If you were overweight before conception, your pregnancy weight gain will be less than someone who was underweight before conception. Typically, a woman should expect to put on between twenty five and thirty five pounds.

The side affect of this pregnancy weight gain can be both physical and emotional. From an emotional perspective, a woman may start to believe that she is unattractive or just fat. As easy as it is to say, these feelings should be dispersed as soon as possible. Being pregnant is a wonderful gift, of course your body will change in shape and size, yet many people argue that it actually becomes more beautiful as you get further into pregnancy. Anyway, this pregnancy weight gain is only during pregnancy, you should revert back to your original weight quickly after delivery.

Physically, pregnancy weight gain can lead to aches or tiredness. The increased weight can put additional pressure and pull on certain areas of the body. Most women will experience a sore back at some point during pregnancy, so it is important to work on your posture and try to sit and stand correctly in order to relieve the pressure as much as possible.

The best way to look at your pregnancy weight gain is that it is inevitable. As sure as it rains in Spring, you will put weight on during pregnancy. It's just impossible to give birth to a healthy baby without putting weight on. The extra weight is not going to be for ever and it will be completely in your control following the birth of your baby to get your body back into shape. All you will need to do is eat healthily and take in exercise.

If you're worried at all about any aspect of pregnancy weight gain, you should speak with your mid wife or medical doctor as soon as possible. It is important to address any psychological concerns quickly as these can lead into emotional or increased anxieties. Both of which are not good for an expectant mother to be. Your doctor will work with you to ensure that your pregnancy health gain is normal and healthy and help you to be more positive about the gain.
