Toning after Pregnancy

For women for whom fitness was important to their lifestyle before they became pregnant, getting back in to shape after giving birth is usually a priority – especially in today's world where there is a great pressure on women to stay trim and look toned.

Toning after pregnancy is achieved by losing body fat, the weight gained during pregnancy, and building a little muscle by using light weight training. Losing the weight gained during pregnancy is generally the easier part which can be accomplished by reducing calorie intake and light exercise such as walking or aerobics.

Toning the actual muscles once the weight loss is accomplished can be done using dumbbells, body weight exercises and resistance training.

Recommended exercises for toning your body after pregnancy:

Sit-ups

Sit-ups build up the abdominals muscles which give a great look to the abdominal region.

Press-ups

Press-ups are the best exercise for building up the chest, arms and shoulders which give a nice toned shape to the upper body.

Leg-raises

Leg-raises are the best toning exercises for the legs and thighs. They are done by lying on your side and simply raising the leg up and down slowly.
