Pregnancy and Dieting
Everyone of us should try and maintain a healthy diet, this does not mean that we should aspire to look like stick people, but instead be happy that we're eating the right foods, food that provides the right levels of energy and goodness to allow us to exercise and enjoy life. If we all ate a balanced diet and took plenty of exercise, I guarantee that all of our lives would be enriched.
In terms of pregnancy and dieting, these are two words that when said together frighten the life out of me. The reason for this is that I think that society drives so many fears in young women these days, that I actually think some are daft enough to continue to diet even when they have found out that they are pregnant.
Lets be clear, unless you are medically overweight and have been told so by your regular Doctor, there is absolutely no reason why you should be dieting whilst pregnant. In fact, if you're trying to lose weight during pregnancy, I would be as brave to say that you are being wholly irresponsible and it is time you woke up and started to think about your poor unborn baby.
Ok, so rant over, but a necessary one. Of course, many women change their diets during pregnancy, there is absolutely no issue with this. In fact most of us do not habitually eat all of the many different food types we're required to eat in order to give junior the best chance in life, so not surprisingly we change our diets. The difference, we're changing for the good of our baby, not because we want to look good. There'll be plenty of time for that once the baby is born.
