As your pregnancy advances you will be gaining weight, usually 25 to 35 pounds if you are of normal weight. However, if you are underweight, you will have to modify your intake of calories in order to gain 28 to 40 pound, necessary for nourishment of the developing baby.
Women who are overweight must not keep excessively eating during pregnancy, because they have to gain only about 15 and 25 pounds to stay healthy and have a healthy baby. In addition, overweight pregnant woman must avoid starting a diet or fitness program intended to lose weight during the expectant months.
