From taking prenatal vitamins to avoiding changing cat litter, there are certain steps one must take in order to promote a healthy pregnancy. One such thing women must do during their pregnancy is to try and avoid certain foods.

It is a good idea to try and limit the intake of caffeine if not cut it out altogether. This goes for not only caffeinated beverages but for foods which contain caffeine as well, such as chocolate. There are many different decaffeinated options one can choose in order to enjoy their usual beverages without all of the added caffeine. Although some health professionals state that caffeine in moderation is alright, it is important for the woman to decide whether it is in her best interest to drink caffeine in moderation or cut it out altogether.
Alcohol
Another substance women should cut from their diets completely is alcohol. Since medical health professionals have no idea what a safe limit of alcohol in the body may be it is urgently advised that women do not drink any amount of alcohol during their pregnancy as serious medical conditions can result to the baby.
Tuna Fish
Another food to avoid during pregnancy is tuna fish. There has been varying debates recently concerning whether it is okay for pregnant women to consume tuna fish due to the concentration of mercury within the product. The latest conclusion to this debate is that in order to be on the safe side, pregnant women should avoid tuna fish while they are going through their pregnancy.
These are just some of the foods to avoid during pregnancy. In order to have an encompassing list, one should ask their obstetrician to let them know what foods are safe to consume during pregnancy and which ones are not.
