How Soon after Conception Do You Know You Are Pregnant
With most of the more well known pregnancy symptoms well known, one valid question is exactly how soon after conception do you know you are pregnant? In a way, this question can be compared to the proverbial debate over the exact length of a piece of string. This is because, each of us are different, each of us will have a different pregnancy, this includes the symptoms of pregnancy, the convenience of the pregnancy and of course how quickly after conception you realize you are pregnant.
It's fair to say that some women know they are pregnant almost as soon as they conceive. Whilst there is no scientific evidence to suggest that this is possible, many women with child describe a sixth sense, they just know that they have become pregnant. Something inside them is different, they may not be able to put their finger on it, nonetheless they know all the same. In these situations, common logic suggests that a confirmation test be carried out as soon as possible, this results in the pregnancy being discovered quite quickly.
More traditionally, pregnant women will act on pregnancy symptoms that are produced by the body. These are the results of changes occurring inside of your body preparing itself for pregnancy, in these situations a subtle change in the size of your breasts, or the need to visit the bathroom more often than usual, will drive the women to take action. The action is of course a pregnancy test kit and subsequent test. Research suggests that this will happen five to six weeks after conception, although in some cases it will be nine to ten.
Of course, there are so many variables to this debate. Some women will have no idea that they are pregnant, the thought will not cross their minds until they have missed their period. Women with irregular cycles are more prone to experience this, eventually they will become suspicious and take a test. Sometimes a pregnancy may not be discovered until the twelfth or thirteenth week.
We have all read newspaper stories about women who were rushed to hospital with stomach pains, only to discover that they were actually about to give
birth. Whilst these stories are quite extreme, there are countless examples of women who claim to never knowing they were pregnant. The general consensus among women is that this could never happen due to the enormous changes our bodies experience during pregnancy. Yet, it is a great example of how each of us are different, we can never really be sure how soon after conception we will know we are pregnant.
To crystallize this point, take a quick poll of friends and family who have had children. Ask them how soon after conception do you know you are pregnant. We're convinced that you will receive many different responses. We frequent a number of pregnancy forums and have seen the same question asked dozens of times, there just does not seem to be a common rule or trend.
