What to Expect during Pregnancy

Asking what to expect during pregnancy is always a great question. In our profession we like to listen to the varying answers as most often they depend on the person answering the question. For example, a friend who had a particularly difficult pregnancy will describe her experience as it was, probably uncomfortable and far from joy. Whilst your mother, will most likely tell you that it is straightforward, and that there is nothing to be worried about, hoping to protect you from some of the less savoury parts of pregnancy.

So it is all a matter of expectations. Depending on who you talk to, what you read and your circle of friends depends on what the picture of pregnancy you build in your mind begins to look like. This is completely natural, in fact we follow the same system with most things in life. We look for reassurance and advice from those closest to us, even when it comes down to choosing which store to use for our weekly grocery shop.

The issue we have with doing this to find out what to expect during pregnancy is that each of us experience a very different pregnancy. We have different symptoms, cravings and feelings. We find out in different ways, worry about different things, that often when we listen to our friends and families talk about being pregnant, we put ourselves under undue stress and anxiety. So we're advising our readers to try and put into context what they learn about being pregnant from others. Sure, take it all in and learn from it, just don't assume that yours will follow the same pattern.
