Fertility after 30
New scientific studies have shown that women who delay first-time pregnancy have decreased fertility after 30, in addition to other problems that make alternate methods such as in vitro fertilization difficult, according to researcher Henri Leridon, PhD, an epidemiologist from the French Institute of Health and Medical Research.
Fertility after 30 years of age has been analyzed and studied in depth by many other researchers for at least a decade, however, Dr. Leridon's report unveils new discoveries in the field of vitro human reproduction, outlining the odds of getting pregnant based on a computer program that he designed.
According to Dr Leridon, women's fertility after 30 returns a 75% chance of getting pregnant within a year with a 91% success rate within four years after trying to conceive naturally and 30% of women trying to give birth using vitro fertilization. In addition, if the woman has kept overall good health, she is more likely to get pregnant without major problems.
Fertility after 30 keeps being a matter of time and women should be realistic while understanding their priorities. If they want to have a baby they must not wait until they cross into the 30s otherwise they must try to maintain a healthy lifestyle toward the time in which they want to conceive.
Furthermore, American women have more chances to undergo successful fertility treatment according Dr. Tarum Jain, MD, reproductive endocrinology and Harvard Medical School . "In the U.S. , in vitro fertilization success rates are quite a bit higher than European success rates".
In fact, a 1986 study published by The British Journal of Family Planning, found that women aged 30-35 who never had children delayed longer in conceiving once they discontinued oral contraceptives, with a subtle suggestion that birth control pills were responsible for the sterility.
