Improving Your Chances of Getting Pregnant

The funny thing about deciding that you want to have a baby is that once you've made the decision, most couples want to become pregnant immediately. It often does always not work like that, fertility is a strange beast and it takes a while for your body to get back in shape following long term contraception use.

As with all pregnancies, they're all absolutely different in every way. No two women will experience the same symptoms of pregnancy, the same labor and delivery and certainly not the same fertility scales. So why is there so much advice available on all of these topics? Surely, if we're all different, we all need different advice? That's certainly a fair comment, yet when it comes to fertility or the symptoms of pregnancy, there are certain things that tend to happen, or with regards to fertility, certain things we can do to improve it. So this article is designed to provide you information that will hopefully improve your fertility and increase your chances of getting pregnant.

Regardless of your fertility levels, the first thing you need to do is have plenty of fun and relaxed sex. More sex means more chances of becoming pregnant. However it is very important to make the sex as fun and adventurous as possible. The reason for this is as soon as sex begins to feel like a task (to become pregnant), the joy will quickly disappear and sex will be compared with a common chore, albeit slightly higher on the scale than ironing.

Having sex whilst your fertility level is at its highest will obviously increase your chances of becoming pregnant. Learn to read your body's signs about when you are in ovulation, you can do this by keeping a diary, checking your body temperature or just because you are in tune with your body. Beware though that it is harder to tell if you have an irregular menstrual cycle.

Once you've completed your lovemaking, definitely do not reach for that post sex cigarette. Smoking and drinking have a definite affect on both yours and your partner's fertility. Instead, lie on your back with your legs in the air for around three minutes, many fertility experts suggest that this increases your chances of becoming pregnant by helping the sperm along as they race towards your egg.

In the morning, after you have made love again, throw all of the coffee out of the house. Instead of your usual caffeine rush before work, take a cup of tea instead, often the more exotic the tea the better. Caffeine has a detrimental affect on fertility, while tea is proven to enhance the body's natural immune system. You should also start to think more about how to improve your mental and physical state, this might include taking a good hard look at your diet and eating more foods that has been proven to help with fertility. At any rate you should be eating foods that offer nourishment for the months ahead.
