Fertility

Some couples experience great difficulty conceiving, while for other couples it seems that they only have to wink at each other for them to be expecting. This is a question of fertility, some couples or some people are more fertile than others. For some couples this is a very serious problem, they would do anything to have their own family, yet appear to have been missed when Mother Nature waved her fertility wand.

There are any number of medical and non medical reasons for this, some our within our control and some are not. If you've been trying for a baby for a number of months, you probably have no reason to be concerned about fertility yet. If on the other hand it has been over a year, you should seek immediate professional help.

Experts link our fertility to different factors; these include the food we eat, our health, our body clock, emotions and medical. Each factor can play an important part of our fertility, for example our health is very important when it comes to fertility, if we smoke or drink in abundance we are reducing out fertility rates, this is the same for men as well as women.

You may have heard of the phrase "2.4 children". This is used to describe the fertility rate of how many children to women there are in western countries. The actually figure is now closer to 2.1 children per woman, interestingly as our lifestyles change that figure is expected to reduce further, especially in large cities.

The question of fertility often leads to one of infertility, which is the exact opposite of fertility. If you have been told you are infertile, this will be a diagnosis from a Doctor following examination; you will also have tried to conceive for a 12 month period.

The good news for couples who experience problems with fertility is that there is often a medical cure or a process to remedy the situation, although you should note that this is not in every case.
