Gender Selection and Conception

Couples who are trying to get pregnant may be wondering if there is any way to conceive one specific gender over another. Gender selection and conception is something which medical professionals and laypersons have pondered often. As a general rule, many health professionals agree that there is no concrete way to pursue gender selection when conceiving a child. Other laypersons have alluded to the fact that certain methods do in fact work with regard to gender selection and conception.

Shettles Method

The Shettles method is a gender selection process offered by Dr. Shettles who states that certain factors such as timing of conception, position during intercourse and other factors will determine whether a boy or girl is produced. This method has been vehemently opposed by many medical health professionals and it is up to interpretation whether or not this method will work. Some individuals have even claimed that those who tried the Shettles method were met with the opposite result. However, it is important to know that this method does exist and one who wishes to learn more can read about it online or in books written by Shettles.

Chinese calendar for Gender Prediction

Another gender selection method which has been claimed to work for some individuals is the Chinese calendar for gender prediction. This entails the woman to compare her age and the month of conception with the Chinese calendar and the calendar will show whether a boy or girl will be conceived. This too has an accuracy rating similar to the Shettles method and some say it is about as accurate as flipping a coin to determine the baby's gender.

In summation, gender selection is something which has not concretely been stated to be able to determine through any currently known method. Medical health professionals do not believe any form of gender selection method to be effective although certain laypersons swear by a particular method due to their past success. The result is that it is up to the individual to determine if any of the methods could work for them.
