Planning to Get Pregnant
When couples are planning to get pregnant the excitement and desire for a child can often throw all of the rational thoughts out of the window. Here we list a few things both partners should consider and discuss with each other when planning to get pregnant.
Is your relationship ready for a new addition?
This is undoubtedly the most important factor when planning to get pregnant. Is your relationship ready and mature enough for a new baby? Many couples rush in to pregnancy in the early stages of a relationship and although it may seem at the time a great idea at the time it could seal your future forever - for good or bad.
It is crucial that when planning to get pregnant the quality and length of the relationship is considered and mulled over very thoroughly. If you don't know your partner inside and out or have a stable relationship based on honesty, care and respect then you may wish to think of your reasons for wanting a child.
The only relationship a child can truly prosper and develop properly in is that of a loving family environment. The quality of a couple's relationship cannot be overlooked because of natural desires.
Your Finances and Planning to Get Pregnant
A couple's financial situation is also important when planning to get pregnant. You need to ask yourself if you can support and provide for a new addition to the family adequately enough and this also means thinking about what you would do if one partner were to lose their job for any reason.
Raising a child is expensive - there is no escaping it. If you're struggling to pay bills and meet mortgage repayments now, your future may be very bleak indeed if you were to introduce a child in to your situation. When planning to get pregnant it is best to take care of all of your loose debts before considering having a child.
Do You Have an Adequate Support Network?
Although not entirely necessary, having a great support network for a new baby is a great advantage. This is usually family or close friends. You will find having a good support network extremely useful to take the pressures and stress off both during pregnancy and after giving birth. Usually older family members are great and love getting involved with it all. Remember they have all been through it before and have much to offer couples who are new to the experience.
