Menopause and Pregnancy
Ok, let's discuss this particularly interesting issue. Interesting I guess depending on which side of the fence you sit. In a usual environment, it is highly unlikely for a woman to become pregnant after she has gone through the menopause. However, this singular thinking does not take into account modern medicine and the miracles of the fertility workers.
Just today, a quick browse through the newspapers supports this. Many of the papers report on a 52 year old woman who having gone through the menopause, not only found herself pregnant but gave birth to “miracle baby boy”. This was possible thanks to an egg donated by her generous niece and the advancements of modern medicine.
Regardless of where you stand morally when reading a story like this, it does demonstrate the huge technological advancements being made by modern medicine. If a lady of 52 who has already had her menopause can give birth to a healthy baby boy, there is a chance for everyone. In a way, this is a hugely comforting thought.
Of course, menopause and pregnancy are not often uttered in the same sentence. Plus, it is fairly safe to say that this woman needed to go through a massive amount of treatment and reflection before going ahead with the process. She would have been counseled by a team of experts and no doubt advised that the whole process was fraught with danger. This baby game is never easy, and no one ever said it was, but it does show that with determination and drive, anything can be achieved.
