Acne during Pregnancy

As if it is not enough punishment to put on lots of weight, be constantly uncomfortable and have to make last second face saving visits to the bathroom. Mother Nature has one more cruel trick up her sleeve, the dreaded acne during pregnancy! If like me you thought you you'd seen the last of the spots during your teens, think again.

Firstly, lets start with the good news. If you do experience a flare up of acne during pregnancy, it is a short term thing. Your lovely smooth skin will return quite quickly following the arrival of junior. Also, there is medication that you can use to reverse the affects of acne, however it is vitally important that you consult your Doctor before taking anything. Some acne treatments should never be taken by pregnant women, so always check.

That bad news is that if you're getting acne during pregnancy, it's probably time to rewind the clocks and remember how you dealt with it when you were younger. The usual advise is pertinent here, drink plenty of water everyday, eat lots of fruit and vegetables and try to get outside in the fresh air as much as possible, rather than sitting indoors in the dark all day.

Also, pay attention to your cleanliness. Wash every day with antibacterial soap or gel and try to use a cloth that will absorb any oiliness produced by your skin. If you need to do this more than once a day, then go ahead.
