Hip Pain during Pregnancy

Like a lot of pains and strains associated with pregnancy, some only seem to affect certain people. This is no laughing matter, as when a specific affliction hits, it can often be very painful and uncomfortable. Hip pain during pregnancy is one of those issues, happily it passes many people by, however if you're unfortunate to suffer from it, you will certainly know about it.

Some people suffer terribly from hip pain during pregnancy, so much so that they are unable to walk or even get out of bed. In some cases, it is known to disappear half way through the second trimester, for others it continues for the whole duration of the pregnancy.

Unfortunately, there lies the issue. Hip or pelvic pains are very difficult to get any sort of respite from; typically it will be a dull ache or a bruise like sensation. There will be no sign of the pain on your skin which only adds to the frustration. When you walk or attempt to stand from a sitting position you may feel a sharp pain shooting through your hips.

In terms of treatment, there is little available to fix the problem, instead you should speak to your Doctor about alleviating the pain as much as possible, especially if it is stopping you from sleeping. There are also herbal and natural remedies which can be applied to the skin area, although we would recommend speaking with a Doctor before investing in this type of treatment.
