Itching during Pregnancy

Itching during pregnancy has to be one of the most uncomfortable ailments one can experience; it's not like other more well known symptoms such as aches and pains, or more general discomforts. Itching is constant, it is annoying, hard to ignore and can drive you absolutely bananas if not treated.

Generally, itching tends to be concentrated on one area, much like a rash or an allergy your skin might go red or in some cases appear white and flaky. If you do experience itching of this nature it is worth having it checked out by a Doctor, the reason for this is that it could also be a symptom for other more serious ailments such as Chicken Pox.

Of course, some women may also experience some form of vaginal itching during pregnancy. Often this is a result of a sexually transmitted disease or other infection. The good news is that most of the time these can be treated and the itching will stop, our advice is to seek treatment quickly as this will help you to achieve a comfortable pregnancy, which in turn will reduce your stress and anxiety as you approach childbirth.

Another source of itching during pregnancy is eczema; many women who have previously experienced this and have controlled the symptoms complain that it comes back with a vengeance during pregnancy. If this is the case with you, visit your pharmacist who will be able to advise you on the latest and best innovations with regards to affective creams.
