Pregnancy Leg Pain

Leg pain is a common complaint for many women during pregnancy. With the extra pressures and weight on the body it's no surprise that the legs scream out in pain from all of the added support they are required to provide.

Cramping in the legs can also account for most pregnant women's pregnancy leg pain and it is quite common effecting half of women during pregnancy. Things you can do to help ease the pain include the following:

  • Exercising and stretching plenty when you awake and just before bed time. This helps loosen up the joints in your legs and will help see off those nightly leg pains

  • Consuming extra calcium as some doctors suggest this is the most common cause of pregnancy leg pain and cramps, so drink plenty of milk and don't be shy on dairy products

Its common sense to say that if your pregnancy leg pain is severe and you are in constant pain or worried in anyway then go and see your doctor immediately. Although pregnancy leg pain is common in pregnancy it doesn't necessarily mean there isn't something more serious going on in your legs that requires medical attention.

As a last tip which can be rather fun and relaxing is have your partner massage your legs and body often. This will actually alleviate much of your pain and it's a nice way to spend time with your partner while he supports you during your pregnancy.
