The Definitive Guide to Pregnancy Symptoms

The wonderful thing about pregnancy, is that there is never a shortage of opinions or people prepared to offer their advice or suggestions. Suffice to say, much of the advice we receive is very helpful, information about the different pregnancy symptoms, how to breathe properly, what type of birth we should consider. Yet, do you sometimes feel that it would be nice just to sit back and read about the pregnancy symptoms in your own time?

We hope that this is the case, that is why we've put together the definitive guide of pregnancy symptoms. Be warned, this is not for the faint hearted.

So lets get the good news out of the way first, as well as the impending arrival of a beautiful baby, you should (if lucky) expect your hair to thicken and for your complexion to improve significantly, often known as a healthy bloom. The side affect of that is that there are other pregnancy symptoms that literally play havoc with your body, to such an extent that you may not know whether you are coming or going at times. So here's the bad news:

Pregnancy symptoms - Morning sickness

Many women suffer from horrendous morning sickness, whilst others do not suffer at all. No one really knows the reasons why we suffer from morning sickness, the most common view is that it is a reaction to all of the additional chemicals and hormones inside of our body. Although a very common early pregnancy symptom, the affects of morning sickness should all but disappear within 12 weeks. If during this time, you struggle to hold down any food, you should consult a doctor immediately.

Pregnancy symptoms - Constipation and hemorrhoids

Never the most flattering of pregnancy symptoms, yet it is one that you should expect. The hemorrhoids are a result of increased pushing when suffering from constipation, so it is important to drink plenty of water, stay clear of coffee and eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. If it becomes too uncomfortable, visit your medical doctor who may be able to prescribe a cream or ointment.

Pregnancy symptoms - Varicose veins

Another unsightly or less than flattering of pregnancy symptoms. Varicose veins are the result of hormonal changes within our bodies which relax the veins and slow the flow of blood. The most common area for varicose veins is on the leg and although some women do tend to attract varicose veins due to their genes, it is possible to reduce the symptoms by exercising regularly.

We hope that our look at the more unattractive pregnancy symptoms has not put you off. In most cases, the symptoms will disappear as soon as you give birth, so it will not be long until you are back to normal. Until then, it is important to eat and drink well and try to take part in regular exercise. Whilst it may not make these less than attractive pregnancy symptoms go away completely, it will certainly help to make them easier to live with.
