First Signs of Pregnancy - Observing Changes Within Your Body

Even though your pregnancy is not yet confirmed you will just start to observe some changes within your body, the most common of the first signs of pregnancy is a missed period. You will also start to notice changes in other areas such as your breasts, as for the first few weeks your breasts will grow in size as they begin to ready themselves for breast feeding, physically you will see small bumps around the nipple area and they may darken in colour.

For fair skinned people, you will notice prominent blood vessels around the breast area, these are more exaggerated veins that are not normally visible, this is because the breasts require additional blood to make the necessary changes in preparation. If your veins are not normally visible, this is often one of the first signs of pregnancy and should be considered a precursor to you completing a home pregnancy test.

Almost all women will experience an emotional change, this is mostly to do with the increase levels of hormones being created inside of your body. This may result in headaches and most likely tiredness. Extreme tiredness is completely normal and should be expected during the first trimester, this is because of the enormous changes happening inside of your body.

Although tiredness is one of the first signs of pregnancy, the good news is that you should only experience this for the first ten to twelve weeks (or first trimester). Once your body has prepared itself, you will notice a daily improvement in your energy levels, until you are back to normal, as you enter the second trimester. If you continue to feel overly tired after week twelve, it is a good idea to have yourself checked over by a medical doctor as it is possible something else is wrong.

The first signs of pregnancy mean big changes are afoot, both emotionally and physically. If this is your first baby, try to establish a support network with your partner or friends. The most important thing is that you maintain your general health and fitness, is this means regular naps or doing less around the house, then so be it.

Finally, it is hard to discuss the first signs of pregnancy without mentioning morning sickness. Although not every woman will experience this problem, it is definitely common throughout early pregnancy. The medical world are not one percent clear on the reasons for morning sickness, some believe that it is because of the chemical reaction to different hormones within our body, while others believe it is because our blood sugar levels are too low, especially first thing in the morning.

If you have experienced morning sickness as one of your first signs of pregnancy, please do not despair. Research has proven that women suffering from morning sickness are less likely to have miscarriage symptoms. You'll also be glad to know that you will be back to normal by the start of the second trimester.

The first signs of pregnancy will be very exciting, with many changes. For a while, they will be undetected by everyone apart from you and your partner. Enjoy this period, very soon you will be able to tell people about your pregnancy and look forward to giving birth to a beautiful baby.
