The Most Common Signs of Pregnancy
There are many early signs of pregnancy, ways in which our bodies let us know that big changes are in store. These changes are a direct result of our body changing in readiness of the pregnancy, as it prepares to carry our baby and help to protect it for the next nine months. Following conception, it will take about seven days for the fertilized egg to complete their journey along the fallopian tubes and implant into the uterus.
We’ve listed the most common early signs of pregnancy below:
- You may find that you need to visit the bathroom more often than normal. In some cases, this is the earliest of early signs of pregnancy and can happen as soon as seven days after conception.
- A missed period is one of the early sings of pregnancy that every body recognizes. However, many women experience irregular cycles, so it does not always mean pregnancy. However, if you are as a regular as clockwork it could be the most obvious sign.
- Slight spotting of a pink or brown color. This usually occurs before your period is due.
- Hot flushes or a rise in normal body temperature is often one of the early signs of pregnancy. Most women experience an increase in body temperature during ovulation, however after conception the body temperature may remain increased.
- One of the most common early signs of pregnancy is fatigue. This is due to the abnormal amount of hormones and changes raging throughout your body. There is nothing really you can do to combat the tiredness except to get plenty of sleep. Fatigue is a classic early sign of pregnancy, don’t worry it is normal. You should regain your normal energy levels by the second trimester.
- Many women often experience morning sickness during the early stages of pregnancy, again this is the reaction to different hormones and chemicals raging throughout your body. Much like fatigue, this is one of the early signs of pregnancy and you will begin to recover as the first trimester nears it end.
- You may also start notice that your breast have grown or begin to feel more tender than normal. This is because they are preparing to produce milk, another one of nature’s early signs of pregnancy. You may also start to notice that the area around the nipples change to a darker color, often as little as one week after conception.
Many women experience all of the early signs of pregnancy listed above, yet many of us experience none of them. There really is no rules to this, each of us are different and our minds and bodies react in different ways. The most important thing is to recognize that we are pregnant, often the early signs of pregnancy are our body’s way of dropping the proverbial hint.
As you can see, there are numerous early signs of pregnancy. However, just because you have one symptom or many, it does not necessarily mean that you are pregnant. For absolute confirmation, we recommend purchasing a home pregnancy testing kit in the first instance, if this is positive then you will need to get medical confirmation from a doctor or midwife.
