Signs of Pregnancy in Physical and Emotional Forms

There are a huge number of different pregnancy signs, they come in either physical or emotional forms. Each of the pregnancy signs described below may be experienced, or in some cases only one or two will be experienced. The pregnancy signs are a result of massive changes happening inside of your body.

Missed Period

A missed or late period is one of the classic pregnancy signs. A missed period is often a sign of pregnancy, however it can also be the result of added stress, tiredness or changes in hormonal pattern or diet. If you have missed a period or are late, the best course of action is to take a home pregnancy kit.

Instinct

Many women simply know that they are pregnant before any pregnancy signs are shown by their body. This is more common if you have already been pregnant before as you will recognize some of the changes occurring inside your body. Clearly, instinct is very powerful, so if you have a feeling that you are pregnant, again the best course of action is a home pregnancy test kit.

Morning sickness or nausea

Morning sickness or vomiting is one of the more common pregnancy signs. The medical profession are of mixed thoughts about why we suffer from morning sickness when we become pregnant, some suggest that it is a result of new chemicals and hormones found in our body. Not all women experience morning sickness and of course it can be the result of other ailments and not just one of the pregnancy signs. Usually morning sickness and one or two other early signs of pregnancy are enough to make us seek further conformation.

Increased or decreased sex drive during pregnancy

Many women disregard libido as one of the pregnancy signs. Yet many others claim that their sex drive increases during the first trimester of pregnancy. This could simply be because for the first time you do not have to worry about contraception, however it could also be a sign of something more.

Enlarged breasts or swollen breasts

One of the first physical pregnancy signs is an increase in the size of your breasts. They may feel swollen or slightly tender, this is a direct result of them preparing to produce milk. As you get further into pregnancy, expect your breasts to grow more. You should also prepare to purchase a supportive bra.

Cravings for food not normally eaten

One of the stranger pregnancy signs is our desire or craving for food or drink which we would not normally touch. There is a universal image of a pregnant woman eating fish fingers and ice cream. No one has really explained why we have cravings, however many have suggested that it is our “pregnancy instinct” kicking in and helping us to eat foods that will help us.

Having one or two of these pregnancy signs does not necessarily mean you should begin to decorate the nursery, in fact a home pregnancy test is not always 100% reliable. So if you do think you are pregnant it is very important that you visit your medical doctor as soon as possible to seek confirmation.
