Spotting in Early Pregnancy
Spotting is one of the very early symptoms of pregnancy, although often the most overlooked as there are a number of possible reasons why spotting could happen. Whilst all women experience different signs of pregnancy, spotting does appear to be one of the most common.
Usually spotting appears around the forth or sixth week following conception, it will often be light spotting and your stomach may cramp similar to the way it does before a period. Obviously, if you are pregnant you will not experience the period, which will make you start to think about the possibility of being pregnant.
Spotting in early pregnancy is usually nothing to worry about, it is another one of the signs our body gives us to let us know that changes are afoot. However, if they occur later in the pregnancy, for example between weeks twelve and twenty-four it could be something a little more serious, if this is happening to you, we recommend that you visit your doctor as soon as possible.
You will know your body better than anyone else, if something feels uncomfortable or just ‘not right' then seek immediate assistance. If you are experiencing more than just spotting, heavy bleeding for example, then again this is a sign that something may not be right.
Aside from being one of the early signs of pregnancy, it might also be a sign of infection. So if you do not think it is possible you could be pregnant, it may still be worthwhile getting it checked out.
