Symptoms of Being Pregnant

Hopefully, you've read a lot about the symptoms of being pregnant throughout the pages of this web site, so we thought that it would be useful to give you some first hand experience of what the symptoms of being pregnant are like, as told first hand by one of our readers. We'd be delighted if you wanted to take the time and write to us describing your own symptoms of pregnancy stories.

Are These the Symptoms of Being Pregnant or do I have flu?

I woke up at what felt like was the middle of the night, my head was hurting and I could not shake the feeling of sickness. I decided that I would wake my husband, still drowsy he suggested that I might have flu and to take some headache relief pills. I took his advice and eventually fell back to sleep.

In the morning, I felt even worse, this time instead of feeling sick, I actually was. I managed to make my way into work, yet spent most of the morning being sick in the bathroom. By lunch time, my colleagues were a little worried about me, one even suggest that I was experiencing the symptoms of being pregnant. I was not so sure, yet I decided to take the rest of the day off and visit my doctor.

After describing my symptoms and suggesting that I had nothing more than flu, my doctor asked if it was possible I was pregnant. Although my husband and I had been trying to conceive for some time, so far we had not been successful, so I did not think this could be the reason. The doctor decided to take a urine sample just in case and asked me to pop in and see him the next day. At this point, my mind was racing, I was very excited yet at the same time incredibly nervous. Had I really been experiencing the symptoms of being pregnant? Surely, I would know if I was pregnant?

I spent the rest of the afternoon resting on the sofa, I decided not to mention anything to my husband until I was sure I was pregnant. We'd been trying to conceive for so long now, that I did not want to get his hopes up. If this was really the symptoms of being pregnant, I wanted to make absolutely sure. So after another sleepless night and feeling sick, I went back to visit my doctor.

I entered the surgery and took my place in the waiting room, by the time I was called in, I think I had decided upon the sex of the child and which school they were going to go to. I was trying hard not to get too excited, yet it was impossible. I'd decided that my body was trying to tell me it was pregnant by displaying the classic symptoms of pregnancy.

When I sat down in the Doctor's room, I knew immediately what he was going to say. He was smiling as he confirmed the pregnancy. It was all I could do not to break down in tears there and then. The Doctor confirmed that I would start to experience other symptoms of being pregnant, at this stage I did not care. I could not wait to get out of the surgery and phone my husband with the good news.
