Hair Coloring during Pregnancy
So you're three months pregnant, you've finally got control of your body (albeit temporarily), you're no longer being sick in the morning and you're looking forward to a make over. Something to help you to feel like a woman again, nails done, facial and a nice new hair do. But, you've also read about the potential dangers of using hair coloring during pregnancy, so what should you do?
Well, the general feedback from medical experts is that hair coloring and bleaching has little or no impact on the infant. There is hardly any medical evidence to suggest that hair coloring during pregnancy is a bad thing, yet at the same time the medical profession still err on the side of caution. Their advice is simple; if you can do without it, why take the risk?
It's funny how you can never get a straight answer, yet it is understandable. Just because there have been few cases of issues with hair coloring and bleaching, it does not mean that it is worth risking yourself being in that 1%. Doctor's are cautious by nature, so it makes sense for them to run with this message.
Of course, there are some simple precautions you should take. One is to take a good look at the hair coloring products you intend to use. Where possible try to select natural products, the rule here is that the fewer the chemicals the better for junior and you.
