Depression during Pregnancy

The feelings of anxiety, stress and depression during pregnancy have to be the most worrying symptoms to our friends, family and loved ones. These emotional problems are often very difficult to overcome, seemingly so irrational to those not afflicted, yet so very important that they are addressed before they are left to fester and cause problems later on in the pregnancy.

Often, it is very difficult to admit or even know when one is suffering from depression. Sometimes we can be suffering for months, our sleeping is affected, we're stressed and constantly on edge, however we will not always join the dots and consider that we might be a little more than just under the weather. This is because there is still a stigma attached to the word depression, it is as though admitting that you are depressed is a sign of weakness, so something that can often be treated goes on undetected for a lot longer than is necessary.

If you're pregnant and feeling under the weather is critical that you seek help. Even if you feel like the biggest hypochondriac in the world, get help if you do not feel yourself. When you're pregnant there is more at stake than just you, no doubt you're already experiencing the wonderful feelings of love towards your bump? These are natural and instinctive, and why it is important to ensure that you are in the best possible mindset to carry and deliver your baby.

Depression during pregnancy does not need to go untreated, give you and your baby a much greater start together, seek help immediately and be honest with your feelings.
