First Trimester Worries

Most expectant mothers find that pregnancy comes with a lot of issues and worries. This is true especially during the first trimester. They think about the weight gain, the possibility of a miscarriage, and if their babies will come out healthy and free from birth defects.

According to doctors, it is normal to worry during pregnancy. The first trimester is the stage of pregnancy where in a lot of changes take place. Women, especially first-time moms are not familiar with pregnancy and worries of what may go wrong are common.

Although it is normal, excessive worrying will take the happiness out of this very special time of your life. Here are some tips to overcome the worries and start enjoying your pregnancy:

  1. Educating yourself about the changes that pregnancy brings can alleviate the tension.

  2. Talk to other mothers. Chat online or join a group. Talking to people who have gone through the pregnancy experience will help ease the worries.

  3. Ask questions. Discuss your worries with your doctor; she is your best resource.

  4. Concentrate more on eating healthy instead of worrying about the weight gain. Everyone gains weight when they’re pregnant, but they lose the extra pounds after giving birth with proper exercise and eating healthy of course. For now, since you are pregnant, your baby is your priority.

  5. Exercise. Engaging in physical activity or friendly exercise will take your mind off things. As long as it is not contraindicated for your pregnancy, exercising is healthy during pregnancy.
