Arranging A Pregnancy Due Date Charity Sweepstakes

The best thing about the pregnancy due date is that you can arrange an office sweepstake to raise money for charity. It's very simple to do, actually it's probably better if a colleague arranges everything for you as you will be busy elsewhere on the pregnancy due date.

All you need to do is decide upon an entry fee, this should not be too high, so as to keep everyone interested, yet at the same time it should be enough so that both the winner and the charity benefit. You need to be very clear on the rules and objectives, explain to your potential players that they need to guess the pregnancy due date, this means that the winner is the person who correctly guesses or pulls out the right date from the hat. To clarify, whichever date the baby is born on is determined as the pregnancy due date.

When we have ran these types of competitions in the past, we've always done so with the permission of the mother to be. We also give them the opportunity to decide which charity the pregnancy due date competition should support. Often the token gesture is put towards the hospital where the baby was born, this helps the hospital to continue their service.

The practicalities of the pregnancy due date competition are quite simple. To make it is fair as possible, it is probably best to draw dates out of a hat. Establish when the official pregnancy due date is, then make sure that you have enough dates covered either side of this date, usually fifteen days either side is enough. Write down all of the dates on a separate piece of paper, this is where you will record the names of your entrants, which pregnancy due date they pulled from the hat and their entry fee.

Once all of the dates have gone, you might decide to draw all of the dates again in order to boost the prize fund. However, this would mean that you have quite a large office or a high number of entrants. It's usually best to try and keep the pregnancy due date competition small where possible.

The best time to run this competition is around about months seven or eight. If you run the pregnancy due date competition too early, you're running the risk of people losing interest or forgetting about it. Most women will take maternity leave from work before the pregnancy due date, so you will need to work out a way to be notified of the birth. In most cases, the place of work is notified quite quickly anyway.

When the pregnancy due date occurs, don't forget to check the name against the date they drew from the hat. They are entitled to the prize money, while the other half is destined for charity. You might also consider doing a whip around in the office in order to buy some flowers or chocolates for the new mother.
