Adjusting Physically and Psychologically in The Second Trimester

Most women find the second trimester of pregnancy to be easier than the first trimester, but it is important to stay informed about your pregnancy in this stage too. The second trimester of pregnancy helps you to adjust yourself physically and psychologically. While you might notice that symptoms such as nausea and fatigue are going away, you will see other new, more noticeable changes to your body. Before the second trimester is over, you will feel your baby beginning to move. So it is very important if you have not already to be making positive adjustments to your diet and health.

One of the more physical signs of the first trimester is the increase in size of your breasts, this is due to the milk producing glands stimulated by estrogen and progesterone. The size of your abdomen is also growing due to the expansion of uterus. In fact, the abdomen will gain four pounds a month in weight until the end of your pregnancy. A positive sign is that your uterus will become more flexible during the second trimester, making it capable of contraction without any pain.

At stages during the second trimester you might notice slight changes to the color of your skin, this is due to the high flow of blood and the increase in vessels to support the flow. A more positive sign of the second trimester is what is known as blooming. This is when your face gives off a radiant and glowing feel to it, you may notice that many people comment on how beautiful you look.

Due to the increase of blood circulation in the mucus membranes causes congestion, nose bleeding and gum bleeding. Women also feel leg cramp or dizziness due to high pressure of blood. During pregnancy, women suffer from heartburn and constipation, to counter these symptoms make sure that you have a well balanced diet and are drinking plenty of water.

During the pregnancy your respiratory organs require as much as 40% more air than before, so this will explain why you may feel out of breath at times. You'll also spot other physical changes during the second trimester such as vagina discharge, a very thin white and acidic fluid, which helps to prevent the growth of bacteria.

During a pregnancy, a woman has to undergo some psychological and biological changes. In the second trimester you are in good health and most of the time in a pleasant mood. Your focus is about preparing yourself to meet the challenges of child birth and delivery. You can attend childbirth classes to get more knowledge about your health, breast feeding and your other related topics.

In summary, the second trimester is about building up pace as you head towards delivery. Your body is changing lots and you're becoming used to the idea of being pregnant, even though you may not be used to the idea of strangers approaching you and asking whether you are pregnant. If possible, try to make as much as you can from your relevant mobility during the second trimester, the third one is much harder, so you might appreciate the break.
