Sex Drive during Pregnancy

Many women experience a change in their sex drive during pregnancy just as every woman and every pregnancy are different, so are their sex drives. One day you may notice that your sex drive is very high and then the next day you would not even consider a rendezvous.

All of this is quite normal as your body is changing along with your hormones. Your body increases the amount of progesterone and estrogen in your bloodstream. This can make you feel that need to be close and protected and yes wish to enjoy sex even more. Not only are your desires changing but also so is your body you will have increased vaginal lubrication, increased blood flow to the pelvic area, and increased sensitivity to your breasts. Some women desire more sex, while others have no desire whatsoever. Remember, all of this is quite normal. If all women were exactly the same, then every pregnancy, labor and delivery, and of course, sex drive would be the same, however, everyone is different.

During the first trimester, the sex drive during pregnancy is usually lower than it may be during the rest of the pregnancy. Your sex drive can change as often as your cravings. During the first trimester, however, you are dealing with morning sickness, the added weight, fatigue, and many times, not enjoying the way you look. However, once you reach the second trimester you have more energy, are beginning to be excited about being pregnant, and you become more interested in your partner once again.

Men may also lose their sex drive while their partner is pregnant. This does not mean that they are no longer attracted to you, most men worry about harming the baby in some way. They are literally afraid to have intercourse, because of hurting you or the baby. You should talk with about their feelings and work on new positions so you both can be comfortable and enjoy intimate times together.
